The conventional logic in EV charging aggregation is simple: more charge points on the map means more coverage, more value to the driver and more users.

It sounds reasonable. It also creates maps that look impressively comprehensive, with thousands of charge points and the reassuring impression that there is always somewhere nearby to plug in.

But a charge point on a map is not the same as a working charge point.

A pin dropped into an app because the data exists somewhere is not the same as a verified, live, reliable charger that can complete your session and get you moving again.

When platforms prioritise volume over verification, drivers pay the price. They drive to chargers that are no longer operational. They rely on status information that is out of date. They start sessions that fail. They arrive at a charger shown as available and find something very different in real life.

That is not just a technology problem. It is a standards problem. It is also a values problem.

What Our Standards Actually Mean

Before ONEEV launched, we made a clear commitment: we would not go live until our charger data reached 99.8% accuracy.

Not close to 99.8%. Not approximately. 99.8% verified accuracy before a single user was asked to rely on ONEEV for a real journey.

That commitment shaped how the platform was built. It required genuine data relationships with charge point operators, ongoing testing, live validation and continued monitoring.

It also required a hard commercial decision: ONEEV would only partner with CPOs that could meet the performance standards our users deserve.

Not every CPO makes that cut. And when repeated technical issues go unresolved, session error rates climb, or the gap between what the data promises and what drivers experience becomes unacceptable, we act.

The Regulatory Floor And Why ONEEV Sets A Higher Bar

The UK Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 introduced mandatory reliability standards for rapid public charge points. GOV.UK guidance confirms that rapid charge points must be 99% reliable, measured as an average across each charge point operator’s rapid network over the calendar year.

That is a meaningful step forward for the industry. For years, there was no clear regulatory mechanism requiring operators to meet a minimum reliability standard.

But 99% reliability across an entire rapid network, measured as an annual average, does not guarantee that the specific charger you need, at the specific location you are driving to, will be working when you arrive.

A network can perform well overall while individual locations still suffer from recurring faults, downtime or poor driver experience.

ONEEV’s standard is different. Our question is not simply whether a CPO is broadly compliant. Our question is whether the charger shown to the driver is accurately represented, operational and dependable at the point of use.

Those are different questions. For some operators, the answers are different too.

What This Means When You Open The App

For drivers, our standards translate into something simple: what you see in ONEEV should match what you find when you arrive.

When a charge point appears as available, it is based on live data from an operator we have assessed, tested and continue to monitor.

When a charger goes offline, the status changes. When it comes back, the information updates. The aim is to stop drivers wasting time travelling to charge points that cannot support the journey they are trying to make.

The charge points in ONEEV are there because they meet our standards, not just because their data exists somewhere in a feed.

If a charger in ONEEV does not perform as expected, we want to know. Driver experience is part of how we monitor quality, challenge partners and protect the reliability of the platform.

The Bigger Picture: Trust Is Infrastructure

The physical infrastructure matters enormously. The UK needs more chargers, better locations, faster hubs and wider access for drivers who cannot charge at home.

But the trust layer matters just as much.

Every EV driver asks the same question before choosing a public charge point: will it actually be there for me?

Without a reliable answer, the physical infrastructure is only partially useful. A charger you cannot trust is difficult to plan around, difficult to depend on and difficult to recommend.
